Lauren’s 40 Over 40 Boudoir Story: You Don’t Have to Wait to Feel Beautiful
So many women tell themselves they’ll do something like this later.
After they lose weight.
After they feel more confident.
After life slows down.
After they finally feel “ready.”
Lauren almost felt the same way.
After seeing a friend’s boudoir photo online, she was curious. Her friend had loved the experience, and a few weeks later, an Instagram ad for Grace In Lace popped up. Lauren replied casually, but at first, she wasn’t sure she was ready to step in front of the camera.
“I casually replied thinking I wasn’t physically ready to take photos yet,” she shared. “However, after my phone consultation, I couldn’t wait to book the session!”
Before booking, Lauren thought she needed her body to be perfect for the session to be worth it.
“Prior to the phone consultation, I felt like I needed to have my body perfect,” she said, “but it’s all about the angles and confidence.”
Three days after her consultation, Lauren booked her session. From there, she said it was all she could think about.
On the day of her shoot, Lauren felt completely pampered by our studio team.
“I felt like I was getting married again with the hair and makeup team and everything was all about me,” she said.
That feeling matters. So many women spend years focusing on everyone else; their children, partners, careers, and friends. A boudoir session creates space for the focus to finally come back to you.
Lauren also shared how comfortable Terri made her feel throughout the experience.
“Terri was extremely sweet and comfortable to be around half-naked. She also gave great directions.”
When Lauren saw her images, her reaction said everything:
“I felt like a Victoria’s Secret model and couldn’t wait to show my husband.”
Her husband loved them too, saying the pictures were even better than he expected. But the biggest shift was what the experience gave back to Lauren.
“It reminded me that I am a beautiful woman and motherhood didn’t have to take away all of my self-expression.”
That is the heart of Lauren’s story.
Boudoir is not about waiting until you become someone different. It is about seeing yourself differently now - in this body, in this season, at this age.
When asked what she would tell another woman over 40 considering a session, Lauren said: “Just do it. Life is short so don’t miss the opportunity to feel beautiful and confident!”
And maybe that’s the reminder we all need.
